Researchers, authors, and healers disagree about what to expect on Dec. 21, 2012, when the Maya's long count calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era.
Many, including scientists see the astrological significance as our solar system crosses the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, a cycle that occurs about every 30 million years.. How did the Maya know this? Modern science just now figured out this astrological phenomenon. But the Maya did, some 1500 years ago.
The 2012 mystique seeds from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the galactic edge of the Milky Way according to the Maya. This alignment event is actually 36 years long.
Predictions there are. Journalist Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in "Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End". Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine". In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness". To the Maya it is about the Condor and the Eagle.
The Holistic Symposium, 2010 will integrate a multitude of techniques with the Mayan healing culture. The cenotes in Maya land are spiritual sites.
Cenote Azul is the deepest (200 feet) in Mexico. It was and still is a spiritual site for many Maya. The light blue at the top is not the sky but rather beautiful Laguna Bacalar.
The Laguna Bacalar International Holistic Symposium will embrace the Maya 2012 cycle with abundant teachings, workshops and hands-on experiential healings. This symposium is about opening our body, mind, and spiritual conduits to become receivers. It's about the water, earth, & you. It's about embracing the flow of nature and life so that positive thought and action is enhanced. It's about building the path from where you are to where you want to be. The journey opens to not only the Maya way but also the Hawaiian, Polynesian and Tribal Native American teachings.

In Bacalar, it's all about the water, the water connection to spirituality, the very essence of being is the water. You are the water and the water is you. Water is sacred in every world culture and spiritual teaching, including the Maya. It is water that cleanses the soul and makes spirit flow -- water loses its purity from stagnation. These truths of Laguna Bacalar can not be learned until they are experienced. Immerse in the Chaac River, and then you will know. Swim the cenote to feel (Yucatec Maya: dz'onot). Cenotes are conduits to the ocean. As much as you are the water, you are the ocean.
Earth Conexión:
Your energy field expands outward about a meter when you are in nature.
Why?
What is the significance?
Around the Caribbean and Pacific, the sound of the conch shell was used as a call to attention that presages the occurrence of an important event. It signals the Guardian and Ancestors for permission as it creates the space for higher purpose in Sacred Time and Sacred Ecology.
To the Maya and many indigenous cultures, science and spiritual beliefs were one and the same.
The Maya were masters of understanding and using time to predict various cycles of nature that allowed them to adapt to the here and after.
